How to Use Smart Stack on Apple Watch (NEW feature)
If you’ve recently updated your Apple Watch to the newly released watchOS 10, you’ve probably heard of the new feature everyone’s talking about: Smart Stack.
Or maybe you accidentally stumbled upon this new feature when trying to access the old Control Panel.
If you’re wondering how to use Smart Stack on Apple Watch to make your daily routines more streamlined and your experience more personalized, then you’re in luck!
This guide will break down everything you need to know, from what Smart Stack is, how you can use it and even customize it.
How to Use Smart Stack
Apple made accessing and using Smart Stack on your watch incredibly easy. Here’s how to use it:
- Press the Digital Crown to go to the Home screen.
- Swipe up to open the Smart Stack widget.
- Swipe up and down to navigate the Smart Stack.
- Tap and hold the Smart Stack widget to customize it.
- Press the “+” or “-“ icons to add or remove widgets.
What is Smart Stack on Apple Watch?
Smart Stack is one of the latest (and best) features on the Apple Watch’s WatchOS 10.
It’s essentially a collection of widgets, or “stacks,” that you can easily access from your Apple Watch home screen.
When you first open your Smart Stack, you’ll see the current date, day, and time. You may also see an activity, live weather, calendar, messages, and all apps widget.
The best part about Smart Stack is its adaptive nature, which arranges your widgets based on usage patterns, time of day, and location to provide the most relevant information when you need it.
Not only do you have access to Apple’s apps, but you can customize your stack by adding various compatible third party applications such as MyFitnessPal, Strava, third-party weather apps, and more. The possibilities are endless.
Customizing Smart Stack
While Smart Stack aims to auto-adjust based on your daily life, you might still want to have a say in what widgets appear.
Editing your Smart Stack is a great way to override Apple’s auto-adjust feature to get your Apple Watch as personalized as you want.

Smart Stack Won’t Open
If you’re having issues opening smart stack, there may be a small software glitch.
It is recommended that you reboot your Apple Watch by holding the right side button and the Digital Crown.
If the right side button is broke, not allowing you to reset your watch, you’ll need to contact Apple Support because you may have a hardware issue.
