Connect WHOOP to Concept2 (Step-by-Step Guide)

by | Aug 25, 2023

If you’re landing here it’s because you already have a WHOOP and a Concept2, whether it be a RoweErg, SkiErg, or BikeErg.

While both are fantastic tools on their own, the downside to the Concept2 machines is that they lack the ability to monitor your heart rate in real time.

That’s where your WHOOP comes into play. The WHOOP connects seamlessly to your Concept2 machine, allowing you to not miss a beat (pun intended).

This article will guide you through the steps to connect Whoop to Concept2 and make the most of your fitness journey.

For a complete list of platforms that integrate with WHOOP, refer to our full WHOOP integration guide.

Limitations of Connecting WHOOP to Concept2

Before we get to the instructions, it’s important to know one quick thing.

You technically can’t connect your WHOOP to a Concept2 in the traditional Bluetooth method, where all types of data are being shared.

Instead, the WHOOP simply broadcasts the heart rate data to then Concept2, allowing you to see your WHOOP heart rate directly on the PM5 screen of the Concept2 – and that’s it.

How to Connect WHOOP to Concept2

In order to get your WHOOP heart rate on your Concept2 machine, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Open the WHOOP app on your paired phone.
  2. Go to the “More” tab located at the bottom right.
  3. Tap on “Device Settings“.
  4. Toggle the “Broadcast Heart Rate” button on.
  5. On the PM5, press “Connect“.
  6. Select “Connect Heart Rate“.
  7. When your WHOOP appears, select it.
  8. Tap “Confirm Selection“.

How to Disconnect WHOOP From Concept2

Once you’re doing working out, it’s important to stop broadcasting your heart rate from your WHOOP so no other devices nearby can pick up your heart rate. To disconnect your WHOOP from the Concept2 machine, follow these easy steps:

  1. Open the WHOOP app on your paired phone.
  2. Go to the “More” tab located at the bottom right.
  3. Tap on “Device Settings“.
  4. Toggle the “Broadcast Heart Rate” button off.
